International ORT Day marks ORT’s foundation in St Petersburg in April 1880, celebrating ORT in history and all around the world today.  

Activities and Resources April 2019

This April we celebrated ORT by connecting students, teachers and friends of ORT from around the world through a variety of activities. Here’s a snapshot of some of the activities that took place in ORT schools around International ORT Day on 10th April 2019.

Global Masterclasses

We shared masterclass presentations shining a light on interesting topics, insights and skills for the future. 

Judaism and Snapchat: Can they co-exist? (English Language)

How is the internet having an impact on Judaism? Does technology pose any challenge or threat to the Jewish religion and culture? In this session Rabbinic Student Igor Zinkov will look at some real-life examples of the positive uses as well as the harm that can be caused by the internet.

How to use technology to improve society

While still at school in ORT Argentina Mateo Salvatto built an app to help people with hearing difficulties. Hear how Mateo’s ORT education helped him to get started as a successful social entrepreneur. 

What is Love? Hear directly from the scientists who study how we love

In this masterclass you will learn about the biological basis of love, and what processes in our brain cause us to experience this emotion. Based on extensive scientific research, doctors Liora Vilmovsky and Adi Naamati explore some differences between humans and almost all other species.

History of ORT lesson plan

International ORT Day lessons delivered in schools explore parts of ORT’s history in the last decades. Students learn how ORT has evolved to face the changing needs of communities globally through these lesson plan materials, available in English, Russian and Spanish.

Global Quiz

ORT students put their knowledge to the test in the Global ORT Quiz this April. Over 20 international ORT schools competed to claim the top prize in the 2019 quiz. Take a look at the 2019 study pack here.
