New year, new face at World ORT

Dan Green joins management team as Chief Operating Officer at World ORT

Dan, who’s due to take up the position on February 15, has been Chief Executive of ORT UK since August 2012. His effectiveness in that role was a key factor in his being chosen for the new position, said World ORT Director General and CEO Shmuel Sisso.

“Thanks to his efforts and those of his excellent personnel and trustees, fundraising revenues have grown considerably. Under his leadership, the ORT JUMP project has revitalised the organisation’s operations within the United Kingdom and, together with ORT UK’s Gala Dinner and other events, has put ORT back on the map in the UK by greatly enhancing the organisation’s public profile,” he said. “We are delighted that Dan will soon be part of the World ORT team and look forward to working with him.”

Dan, who has a background in media sales and advertising, paid tribute to his professional and lay colleagues at ORT UK.

“I’ve been extremely fortunate to have worked with a fantastic professional team and with an incredibly supportive, passionate and caring group of lay leaders, in particular Chairman Simon Alberga and Mark Mishon. Together we achieved many great things at ORT UK,” he said. “But I’m very excited about joining World ORT. Our organisation is simply the finest proponent in the Jewish world of empowering and equipping young people with the skills, knowledge and desire to succeed – if I can play a small role in contributing to that then I’ll be delighted!”

Among the highpoints of his time at ORT UK, Dan noted the extraordinary growth of its mentoring programme for senior students at Jewish high schools, ORT JUMP; the organisation’s distinctive re-branding; and the development of top quality fundraising events.
