Israel fires – an update from World ORT

Dear friends,

Like you I watched the spread of fires across Israel with deep concern. Our thoughts at this time are with those who have been affected by the fires and I am sure you will join me in praying for their safety and for their situations to improve.

Throughout the crisis I kept in contact with our friends and colleagues at World ORT Kadima Mada who were closely monitoring the situation. They informed me that:

  • Last Thursday emergency services quickly put out a fire in the hay barn at Kfar Silver Youth Village’s farm.
  • Some teachers had to leave their schools because of threats to their homes.
  • Some students missed classes because the authorities had forbidden travel to and from their communities.

Thank God, our activities were not seriously affected. However, as long as emergency services are on high alert because of the dry conditions and high winds, we will continue to watch the situation carefully and update you if it changes.

We fully support the Jewish Federations of North America’s emergency campaign to help those severely affected by the fires.

Should we have any significant update on the situation we will communicate it through all our regular channels.

I look forward to sharing happier news with you in the near future,

Best wishes

Shmuel Sisso

Director General & CEO, World ORT
