Witness history being made in Madrid! Join us at the Board of Representatives meeting on May 21 – 23 and you’ll be the first to welcome the Spanish capital’s only Jewish school to the ORT family.
Centro de Estudios Ibn Gabirol – Colegio Estrella Toledano’s affiliation to World ORT means we have a presence in Spain for the first time since our movement’s founding in 1880.
Register now and you’ll be assured of your place at the signing ceremony formalising the school’s new status together with fellow lay and professional leaders of ORT national organisations.
But that’s not all!
You’ll be sitting down to a sumptuous kosher gala dinner with the Jewish State’s Ambassador to Spain, Daniel Kutner, in the splendour of the Casino de Madrid.
And you’ll see the impact you make through your involvement with ORT in the stories of students, teachers and alumni as told by them personally.
In the luxurious surroundings of the Intercontinental Hotel, you’ll hear how we’re working to ensure that future generations will benefit from an ORT education in a special briefing by World ORT Director General and CEO Shmuel Sisso.
As lovely as the hotel is, you will enjoy the opportunities to get out and about: Shabbat is free for you to follow you own desires but we’re excited about taking you to see the Centro de Estudios Ibn Gabirol – Colegio Estrella Toledano in La Moraleja, Madrid’s equivalent to Beverley Hills.
You will see for yourself how this flourishing school prepares more than 300 children between the ages of 12 months and 18 years to be proactive citizens with a uniquely Jewish commitment to social justice.
Some of the families at the school can trace their roots back to Toledo, south-west of Madrid. And you have the option of extending your stay by a day to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It’s all a far cry from the tragedy of the 1492 expulsion and adds up to a magnificent way of helping the Jewish Community of Madrid celebrate its centenary year.
Don’t miss it!
