Covid-19 Immediate Needs. $1.8m Fundraising Campaign

Critical educational programs and services for ORT students worldwide

Over the past 140 years ORT has successfully confronted every challenge that it has faced and has continued to operate in the most difficult circumstances whenever required.

Covid-19 presents World ORT with a new and unfamiliar challenge. As a critical provider of education to more than 300,000 beneficiaries in Israel, the Former Soviet Union, Latin America, Asia, South Africa and Europe, we cannot allow the shutdown of our schools and colleges to result in the end of our educational programs.

Help World ORT meet the challenge of providing outstanding education, and support our most vulnerable young people, teachers and families as they grapple with the devastating impact of the virus and beyond.

SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN

$1.8 Million Fundraising Campaign

To date we have been successful in raising $480,000. However there is still a long way to go to meet the critical needs of ORT’s network of schools and thousands of students worldwide.

Tuition Support
Families across the global network have been severely financially affected, with many unable to meet school fees. Some ORT schools in Europe and Latin America are private schools. The future of our schools and our students’ learning development is at risk. Support is needed to ensure that all ORT schools and their students can continue their education.

Distance Learning Support

The network in struggling communities needs access to a range of distance learning initiatives, that ORT provides to ensure that our students receive as seamless an education as possible and to keep them educationally and socially connected to their teachers and peers:

  • Provision of laptops for teachers and students
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Distance learning content development, including Math Club, STEM Enhancement Program, Creative Challenges
  • Virtual Volunteering

Life after Covid-19
Funds are also needed to help students return to school in the best possible conditions and create a sense of normality. We aim to provide a range of tutorials, mainly for senior students, who have missed out on lessons at a critical pre-examination time and to provide safe transportation to school for students in the Former Soviet Union.

Unrestricted Gifts
Unrestricted gifts to support World ORT are more important now than ever. It is critical to have funds available to innovate and respond to immediate and unexpected needs, while also maintaining World ORT’s core support of its network during and after the Covid-19 crisis and for ongoing non-Covid-19 activities.

ORT 140 De Gunzburg Challenge

To mark our 140th anniversary, our former President and current Honorary Chair of the Board of Trustees, Jean de Gunzburg – a descendant of one of ORT’s three founders in 1880 – has generously made a challenge grant to ORT and our donors, pledging to match donations to core projects, up to $1 million.

The challenge grant will match new and increased gifts made in 2020 and 2021 to ORT’s priority programs as established by the ORT Board and for unrestricted donations to World ORT.

This is a unique opportunity for your new or increased gift to be doubled in value and impact at such a critical time.

The challenge offers to make this match up to $1 million by the end of 2021 and provides us all with a remarkable opportunity to increase ORT’s capacity by a minimum of $2 million.
