World ORT helps disadvantaged people in Africa, Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Latin America and Asia – regardless of their religion or ethnicity. Since 1960, ORT Global Aid programs have benefited more than 2 million people in 98 countries. Financed by development institutions, donor agencies, private companies and foundations, our programs are designed to meet local needs.
Recent initiatives include Training and Employment Opportunity for War-Affected Youth in Liberia, creation of the National Skills Development Center in Myanmar (Burma), and vocational training in Haiti.
World ORT has consultative status with UNESCO, observer status at the International Labour Organization (ILO), participatory status at the Council of Europe, is affiliated to the World Jewish Congress, and is a founding member of ICVA (International Council of voluntary Agencies).
