The Revelation

On the furthermost high slopes of the Carpathians, the young Israel lived with his wife in peaceful proximity to the heavens. He often spent long periods of time in deep study in a grotto carved into the cliff a stone's throw from the house. There were few visitors to their home, so when Rabbi Naftali came by one day, Israel grasped the opportunity and greeted him as an honoured guest. Despite Israel‘s invitation, however, Rabbi Naftali did not want to stay but continued immediately on his way. However, every time he tried to move off, his carriage appeared to be caught up in a magical whirlwind which brought him back to his magical host. This continued day after day for six days, until the Sabbath evening descended and he had to stay until the day after. During his stay there, he experienced the six days of Creation, everything had a clear-cut intention, there was a meaning to every action. Rabbi Naftali began to understand that his host had much more to offer than just a room for the night. The day of rest dawned and the three enjoyed a Sabbath meal together. When he once again took to the road, the rabbi realised with blinding clarity how important it is to take a step back from the frenzy of everyday life now and again to find peace, to find one's own place in the universe.

"These are the products of the heaven and the earth when they were created in the day that Hashem God made earth and heaven... " (Genesis 2:4)
