Spain

Spain is home to two ORT affiliated schools, together bringing more than 600 students to our network.

The ORT Colegio Estrella Toledano in Madrid joined the ORT network in May 2017.

Founded in 1965, the school offers its 320 students personalized teaching with a strong Jewish education, a bilingual program in English, and technological integration. It is the only Jewish school in Spain for children aged one to 18.

Since 2017, Estrella Toledano School has been an International Baccalaureate certified school. It offers the Baccalaureate Program, which emphasises inquiry-based learning and inter and trans-disciplinary approaches. Teachers all undertake training in IB methodologies so as to be up-to-date with recognized best educational practices.

In 2020, Barcelona’s only Jewish school signed an affiliation agreement with World ORT.

Colegio Hatikva has around 330 students, ranging from kindergarten age up to 16. Around half are from local Barcelona Jewish families. Children from Israeli families living in the city also attend, as do a number from non-Jewish local Catalan families.

The school receives access to ORT’s educational programs, opportunities to join international exchanges and competitions, and support on pedagogical, management and school development issues.

The school’s students and teachers have been regular participants in ORT international programs and seminars.
